Merton Place provides a friendly, warm and caring environment for older people requiring residential and nursing, including palliative care. Our aim is to provide the very highest standard of nursing care, but our facilities and staff training mean that we can support a wide range of complex and challenging nursing needs . This is provided in a modern but homely environment where the well-being, choice, dignity, privacy and independence of our residents are our first priority.
Merton Place is set in picturesque gardens in a quiet residential area in the heart of Colwyn Bay. It is well placed just off the A55 expressway and to all local amenities.
Located on Pwllycrochan Avenue, opposite Rydal School, the area is well connected to local transport links, including the mainline Colwyn Bay railway station.
Merton Place is a purpose built care home and provides 54 single rooms. All rooms have en-suite facilities with access to a disabled shower, toilet and hand basin in each room. All bedrooms have profile beds and are well appointed with modern furniture. These rooms are located over three floors with a lift providing access to all floors. Each floor has its own lounge / dining area where food and drinks are available to residents and their visitors throughout the day. Small quieter lounges are available throughout the home for those that want to use these areas. There is a dedicated smoking room for residents use if they wish. All resident bedrooms have a television and internet access if they wish.
The home has a laundry service and dedicated hairdressing salon. The home can arrange for other services to visit the home, these include chiropodist, optician and complimentary therapists. Daily papers, flowers and other services can be arranged if required. Merton Place has accommodation for families to stay at the home, this can be booked for family that need to travel a distance to the home and want to stay close to their loved one. There is off street parking at the rear of the home which can be used by anyone using the home
There is a team of highly qualified nurses who are supported by a group of care practitioners and support staff; providing 24 hour nursing and personal care. All resident areas feature a sophisticated call bell system and the home is fitted with the latest fire detection and alarm systems. We aim to provide comfortable and homely environment which respects the residents level of independence and promotes choice wherever possible. We encourage residents to access all the services and activities available within the home and the local community if they wish. Each resident has their own care plan which is revised regularly by the care staff, resident and their families. Each plan is tailored to the individual needs of the resident.
Merton Place has a full time manager who is supported by a team of nurses, care practitioners and ancillary staff who will provide nursing and personal care over a 24 hour period. All staff hold professional qualifications and continue to enhance their knowledge and skills through a regular training programme.
The home has been designed to accept residents who have been assessed as requiring nursing care. A pre-admission assessment will have been carried out by the manager in conjunction with the local Health Board and Social Services to make sure that nursing needs can be met by the home.

Fees are based on the assessment of need of the individual resident before coming into the home. These assessments are completed by either the Local Health Board, Social Services or by the Manager for privately funded residents.
