Maes y Dderwen on Grosvenor Road, Wrexham, is an Extra Care Housing Scheme for people aged 60 years and over. The scheme is being developed by Tŷ Glas Housing Society, part of the Pennaf Housing Group, in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council. It is a £10.5 million scheme being partly funded by £4.9 million of Viable and Viable Places funding and another £1.2 million of Social Housing Grant which is not only providing homes for older people, but also boosting the local economy through jobs and training opportunities.
Maes y Dderwen will contain 60 one and two bedroomed high-quality apartments for rent, with communal facilities. The scheme is designed to meet the varying levels of need for care and support which people have, supporting people to live independently in their own homes.
Housing management and ancillary services on-site will be provided by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, whilst Wrexham County Borough Council will take responsibility for the provision of the on-site domiciliary care, for tenants with an assessed need.
