ClwydAlyn included in top 30 employer list for 2021

North Wales Housing Association, ClwydAlyn has recently been named as one of the 30 top employers in UK with work life balance charity, Working Families.

This announcement comes following ClwydAlyn’s commitment with the charity to work with them and build a flexible, Working families top 30agile and family friendly organisation.

Elaine Gilbert, Director of People, Communications and Marketing at ClwydAlyn said:

“This is great news for us, and it shows our commitment to create a family friendly environment for our staff.

“ClwydAlyn’s values are Hope, Trust and Kindness and we include these in all we do for both our customers and workforce. As an employer, it is essential that we provide the best possible environment for our people and during the last 17 months we have had to review how we work as well as provide safe working spaces for all.

“Each team has been encouraged to develop their own team agreement, which sets out the work pattern for their team, giving them the freedom to make their own decisions. The only guidance is that no matter how teams choose to work, over whatever working pattern or hours, we need to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.

“To be recognised by the Working Families charity as a top employer within the UK is a great achievement and we are proud to be able to provide an environment that works for so many of our staff, varying from office-based workers, care providers and tradespeople.”

Now in its twelfth year, the Working Families top employer list allows employers large and small from across the public, private, and third sector to compete annually to gain a coveted place on the charity’s list.

Employers were assessed using Working Families’ Benchmark and were scored on four key areas to build a comprehensive picture of their flexible and family-friendly policies and practices that specifically support mothers, fathers, and carers.

Elaine Gilbert added:

“It is a real honour to be recognised as a top employer and more so when competing against other well-respected organisations across the UK. It emphasises that the work we’ve done so far in encouraging managers to consider flexibility such as annualised hours, term time contracts, condensed hours, alongside our enhanced family friendly policies, shows that we’re going in the right direction to become the employer of choice here in North Wales.”

Jane van Zyl, CEO of Working Families acknowledges that it has been an incredibly difficult year for employers and employees alike and noted that they had been blown away by the high standard of this year’s entries, stating:

“If anything, it’s been more competitive than ever, as more and more employers realise just how vital it is to offer flexible, family friendly policies and a positive, inclusive culture to attract the most diverse talent.
