From Court House to Café

The Old Court House is the second oldest building in Flint, probably built around 1595, and was the first purpose built courthouse in North Wales. It was last used as a courthouse in 1785. After that, it was rebuilt as a malthouse and then became a shop in 1888. Many people have fond memories of Tommy Bithell’s and bought or rented their first television there in the 1950’s and 60’s. Today, the Old Court House is a thriving café where locals and visitors alike enjoy a warm welcome and a tasty bite to eat. It is also the perfect place for people of all ages to share their stories and celebrate Flint’s rich heritage.

The Heritage Hub at the Old Court House has been made possible with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, supported by finance from Flintshire County Council and the building itself has been transformed by the Pennaf Housing Group with thanks to funding support from the Flint Town Heritage Initiative (THI) and the European Regional Development Fund.
