Dedicated care professional Wendy Jones has been recognised by her employer ClwydAlyn, with a long-service award in recognition of over three decades of exemplary work at the organisation’s dementia and residential care home, Chirk Court, in Chirk near Wrexham.

For many who work in the care sector, their role is much more than a job; it is a true vocation. This is certainly the case for Wendy Jones, 67, from Ruabon, who has dedicated herself to supporting residents at Chirk Court Care Home for the past 34 years.

Wendy is based at Chirk Court, a specialist care home for 66 elderly residents and people living with dementia, owned and managed by social homes provider, ClwydAlyn. Through her kindness and commitment to her position as a Senior Night Care Practitioner, Wendy helps to create a safe, comforting, and reassuring environment during the hours when residents can often feel most vulnerable.

Wendy was commended at Chirk Court’s recent Recognition Day, not only as one of the longest serving ClwydAlyn colleagues, also for her outstanding service record, highlighting compassion and professionalism, particularly in ensuring that each resident receives person-centred care, tailored to their individual needs.

“We're incredibly proud of Wendy and feel fortunate to have her on our team. Reaching 34 years is an incredible achievement and over the years she has supported and improved the lives of so many residents and their families. Thank you, Wendy, for everything you do.”

“It's not just a job. My dad always used to say to me 'do your best girl' when I was going to work, and I have always remembered that. I really do enjoy looking after and caring for our residents. It can be a demanding role, but that is what makes it worthwhile.”
