Five housing associations – Adra, Cartrefi Conwy, ClwydAlyn, Grŵp Cynefin and North Wales Housing have teamed up, to promote the importance of community and Welsh culture at this year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd – which takes place 23-29 May at Anglesey Agricultural Showground.

ClwydAlyn, a St Asaph based housing association, has raised over £8,000 for St Kentigern Hospice, following a year of fundraising initiatives organised by its Sports and Social Committee.

At 87 years old, Judith Smith, has found an unexpected passion for writing poetry, inspired by her new home at Neuadd Maldwyn in Welshpool.

Ann Walker (seen in the centre of the picture), moved into Nant Mawr Court, a community for people aged over 55, in Buckley two years ago with her husband Steve. She brought with her a passion for fitness and a positive ‘can do’ attitude. As she got to know her neighbours, it wasn’t long before Ann saw that her experience as a fitness instructor, could be an asset to her community.

Kieran Jones is a Homeless Support Officer, who is motivating young residents through his passion for fitness and self-care. He believes that it’s a privilege to support young people on their journeys and that with the right mindset, support, and opportunities, everyone has the potential to move forward and build a positive future. In Flintshire, a four-day workshop at a supported living scheme for young people experiencing homelessness has equipped five young residents with enhanced life skills and a better understanding of how to maintain positive mental health.

The final residents were delighted to move into ClwydAlyn’s new £11 Million development at Rhuddlan Road in Bodelwyddan recently.

National Supported Internship Day (NSID) is a nationwide celebration of supported internships in the UK. It was created and launched in 2023 by our employability partner, DFN Project SEARCH.
