Students at Ysgol Gymuned Llanfechell are enjoying new opportunities to learn outdoors and spend time creating their own raised garden beds, thanks to a community project delivered by contractor DU Construction and social homes provider, ClwydAlyn.
A new raised bed garden and outdoor benches have been provided to the school, as part of an ongoing community project, which forms part of the development of new build homes nearby.
The raised beds will give students the opportunity to explore the natural world and consider the positive impact of spending time outdoors as well as learning about growing both flowers and foods. With the benches and picnic tables providing spaces for socialising and getting to know each other.
The school received help with relocating raised beds, general outdoor maintenance, provision of extra outdoor seating and a special ‘buddy bench’ to aid social interaction.
“Outdoor spaces are vitally important to support wellbeing and help to provide locations for outside learning and we’re glad to see the new areas being used already!”
These community benefit projects illustrate the commitment of ClwydAlyn and DU Construction to invest in the local community and the wellbeing of everyone living there. To find out more about the Llanfechell development, off Mountain Road, visit: Llanfechell, Anglesey – Clwydalyn
