Residents Hit the Slopes and Gain New Qualifications at Snow Camp

Six residents from our supported living scheme, Llys Emlyn Williams in Holywell, have successfully completed their Level 1 Snow Camp qualification after taking part in a two-day programme at The Snow Centre, Manchester.

Funded by Flintshire County Council, the Snow Camp programme gave residents the opportunity to gain hands-on snowboarding and skiing experience while working towards industry-recognised qualifications. The programme can lead to a Level 6 qualification, opening up exciting opportunities for participants to pursue careers as ski or snowboard instructors.

Residents Owen, Lukas, Daniel, Amy, Harry and Leo attended the course. They not only learned new skills on the slopes but also took part in personal development sessions focusing on confidence, resilience and self-belief through the themes of “I Will, I Am, I Can.”

All six residents successfully achieved their Level 1 qualification, with Daniel and Owen already signing up to progress to Level 2.

"I was really nervous to attend as I suffer with anxiety, but staff member Chloe stayed with me and got me down the medium slope. I felt great. I slept all the way home on the coach though!"

The trip demonstrated how providing access to new experiences can help residents develop confidence, independence and aspirations for the future. Staff were delighted to see residents encouraging one another throughout the two days and celebrating each other’s achievements.

Congratulations to Owen, Lukas, Daniel, Amy, Harry and Leo on completing their Level 1 qualification, and good luck to Owen and Daniel as they continue their Snow Camp journey.
