Five housing associations – Adra, Cartrefi Conwy, ClwydAlyn, Grŵp Cynefin and North Wales Housing have teamed up, to promote the importance of community and Welsh culture at this year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd – which takes place 23-29 May at Anglesey Agricultural Showground.

Keen to support young people’s involvement in Welsh language, arts, literature, music and more, North Wales’ leading housing associations have come together to create a community focused exhibition stand which will welcome families and children over the week-long Eisteddfod yr Urdd and the Arts event.

The five North Wales-based housing organisations, which own and manage over 25,000 properties across North and Mid Wales, will be extending a warm welcome to visitors throughout Eisteddfod yr Urdd; recognising the crucial roles which housing associations play; offering safe, warm, homes for residents and providing a wide-variety of essential support services including elderly care, homelessness support, wellbeing services, mental health support and more.

Free events and activities taking place on the stand include:

  • Face-painting
  • Interactive music workshops with Band Bwced
  • A chance to beat the interactive ‘Cyclone’ and win prizes

Considering Career Options?

In addition to creating a series of events for all ages which recognise the value of ‘community’ and ‘home,’ the organisations will also be championing the benefits of a career in housing. This includes sharing information on available roles across the organisations, as well as general recruitment information and employability signposting.

“We are delighted to be working with our colleagues from across the housing sector once again, to create a place for our communities to meet, celebrate and enjoy all that this year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd has to offer.
“We’re looking forward to meeting visitors, competitors, and residents from across Wales, and sharing some very special moments with our communities. And of course, anyone who would like to explore the idea of working within one of our organisations is welcome to chat to the team about the enormous variety of career options that the housing sector has to offer!”

Chief Executive Officer, ClwydAlyn

Mel Evans, Chief Executive of Grŵp Cynefin, said, “Grŵp Cynefin is looking forward to supporting the Eisteddfod yr Urdd in Anglesey, with a joint presence with other north and mid Wales housing associations on the field. We’re looking forward to welcoming hundreds of young people to our unit and showing that the housing sector offers careers which make a difference, in their own communities – whether it’s in plumbing, construction, finance or marketing. There is no better platform than Europe’s largest touring youth festival to share this story and, by working together as a sector, inspire the next generation.”

Helena Kirk, Chief Executive at North Wales Housing said, “The Eisteddfod yr Urdd is a wonderful celebration of Welsh culture, community and the next generation, and we’re proud to be part of this year’s Eisteddfod in Ynys Môn. Sharing a stand with Grŵp Cynefin, ClwydAlyn, Cartrefi Conwy and Adra highlights the strength of partnership working across north and mid Wales and the important role housing associations play in supporting people and places. It’s a brilliant opportunity to engage with young people, families, and communities from across the region.”

Iwan Trefor Jones, Chief Executive of Adra said, “With Eisteddfod yr Urdd being held in north Wales this year, we’ve joined forces with four other housing associations to showcase the work our organisations undertake across the region. It’s a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the positive impact we have on our communities, to highlight the importance of delivering more affordable homes for local people, and to underline our shared commitment to meeting the growing demand for affordable housing. It’s also the perfect time to thank all who have supported us and worked with us over the years.”
