ClwydAlyn Women’s Aid (CAWA) has recently been awarded the Welsh Women’s Aid National Quality Service Standards (NQSS), a quality mark for specialist services that address domestic abuse.

The service – which provides information, support, and a safe place to stay for individuals and their children experiencing domestic abuse in Flintshire – is the first in North Wales to receive this quality mark.

That means the service has had a detailed and independent assessment that evidences our specialist services are operating within a quality framework, a strength -based, needs led and gender responsive model of intervention that supports survivors and their children to build resilience and leads towards independence and freedom.

For funders and commissioners of specialist services, the Standards serve as a robust and independent quality assurance mechanism. They are made up of clear benchmarks for what holistic, high-quality, needs-led, strength-based, and gender-responsive specialist services can – and should – look like.

“I am delighted that the work we do has been recognised by Welsh Women’s Aid NQSS quality mark, our achievement is due to the dedication of our staff who strive to offer the very best service to victims/survivors of domestic abuse.

“Above all, this award provides confidence that someone who is a victim of domestic abuse will be supported by a specialist team that is really making a difference.”
