Housing association ClwydAlyn has partnered with local property development contractor DU Construction to provide a new outdoor learning environment for a primary school in Anglesey.
Denbighshire based housing association ClwydAlyn, in conjunction with Holyhead’s DU Construction, has constructed a brand new outdoor learning environment for the students at Ysgol Goronwy Owen in Benllech. The provision of the specialist equipment, has created a dedicated space for pupils to explore, play and learn. Funded as part of ClwydAlyn’s social value objectives, and delivered by DU Construction, the new outdoor space has been specially designed to inspire exploration, discovery, imagination, and curiosity.
Headteacher, Dr Elfed Morgan Morris, wrote a heartfelt letter of thanks to express the school’s appreciation for the space, praising the positive impact it will have on the children’s wellbeing and development.
“You have gifted [the children] an environment that inspires curiosity and nurtures a love of the outdoors, an environment that will shape the way they experience learning forever. That is an extraordinary legacy, and one we will always treasure.”
The space which includes all weather turf, a look-out cabin, bug hotel, large planter, outdoor seating, a chalkboard, and outdoor easel and more, has been carefully designed with safe, robust equipment, which will enhance the opportunity for imaginative and practical learning through play.
Also, in Benllech, ClwydAlyn’s £6.5 million development, Craig y Don, will provide the community in the heart of Anglesey, 17 new energy efficient, affordable homes. These homes are being built by DU Construction on behalf of ClwydAlyn and in partnership with Anglesey Council and the Welsh Government.
