ClwydAlyn has completed the development of five new homes in Rhoslan, Anglesey, funded by the Welsh Government’s Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP), which has been designed to deliver good quality, affordable and longer-term housing at pace, for families and individuals in need of homes across Wales.
The redevelopment of the Rhoslan site in Anglesey by ClwydAlyn, construction partner DU Construction, and in conjunction with Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn and Welsh Government, has created five much needed, high-quality, lifetime homes.
Local Housing Need in Anglesey
In a recent visit, three Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn councillors were welcomed to the site, which was previously the location of the British School constructed by Lord Stanley of Alderley, built in 1848. The councillors saw first-hand how the new homes will support the local community and how the TACP, which recently received a funding boost of £55 million, is helping to address the urgent need for the accelerated delivery of more safe, warm homes in Wales.
As housing need continues to escalate across North Wales, there are many families in the Anglesey area waiting for suitable, affordable places to live. These homes contribute towards the provision of secure, long-term homes for local families who have struggled to find affordable rental options within their own communities.
Affordable, Sustainable, Lifetime Homes
These ClwydAlyn homes have been designed with a focus on sustainability; which helps residents to reduce their ongoing running costs.
High levels of insulation, solar energy and air source heating solutions all contribute towards minimised heat loss, reduced energy consumption, and lower energy bills.
“We’re grateful for the ongoing support through the TACP funding and collaboration with Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn and Welsh Government which have allowed us to deliver these homes where they are needed the most.
“We are looking forward to welcoming five new families into the homes very soon; and wish them all well as they embark on a new chapter of their lives."
The scheme features two 4-bedroom homes and three 2-bedroom homes. All these homes have been designed as ‘lifetime homes’. This means they offer adaptability and accessibility, should the requirement arise for the residents either now or in the future. Additionally, homes built to last a lifetime, reduce the need for costly alterations or disruption in the future, allowing residents to remain in their homes for longer.
“The Council's Housing Service has a statutory responsibility to assess housing needs and lead on partnership working to provide quality housing locally. Our Housing Strategy 2022 ‐ 2027 is integral as we work independently, and with key partners, to continue to meet the needs of our residents now and in the future."
“I’m pleased to see that local families will soon be moving into their new homes at the Rhoslan Development in Holyhead which have been built by a Holyhead based company thus benefiting the local economy and local housing need."
