“I chose to join ClwydAlyn’s electrical team as an apprentice, it was the most suitable option for my development as I prefer to learn hands on.
I’ve met some great mentors in the group who have passed on a lot of knowledge that I now use daily.
Looking back and seeing how much I’ve learnt and grown is my favourite part of my job. In the future I plan to be fully qualified and have some career goals in place. But for now, I’m focused on college and building up my knowledge in this trade.”
“In April 2007, I was lucky enough to land myself a work experience placement within the Plumbing & Heating team. At the time I was in Llandrillo College undertaking an NVQ and needed a work placement to continue onto my second year.
Thankfully, ClwydAlyn provided this in September 2008 when they advertised the Plumbing & Heating apprentice role, which I applied for. I was successful in the recruitment process and officially started my time with the group. Over the next few years, I completed my college course and apprenticeship, and when a role became available, I took the step up to the role of Plumbing & Heating engineer.
In 2017, with the team and group expanding there was a need for a Plumbing & Heating Supervisor, a role I thought I would suit and that would help my progression.
I was successfully appointed as the supervisor of the Plumbing & Heating team. I carried out that role as recent as August last year, when my current role within the Asset Management team was advertised. I decided it was time for change.
I was appointed the Lead Asset Officer, where I manage four staff and various compliance workstreams. I am really enjoying learning new skills and expanding my knowledge in a different area of the organisation.”
“We applied to ClwydAlyn to gain a greater understanding of the housing industry. We spent time with the Marketing, Finance and Development team during our week.
All staff members were knowledgeable and a joy to work with. What surprised us about ClwydAlyn when meeting each member of staff was how welcoming everyone has been, but we also enjoyed listening to how they do their jobs and the importance of their work to make ClwydAlyn the great company it is.
Overall, this visit has given us an insight into a career in housing and our opinion on the housing sector has changed. We now know much more so our understanding has developed greatly. Our visit to ClwydAlyn has been an amazing experience that we would most definitely do again.”
